* Kamala Devi Harris was born in Oakland, California, in 1964, of Indo-Jamaican parentage, growing up in a multicultural environment. In her maturity, she chose a career in law enforcement -- first as a public prosecutor, then as the San Francisco District Attorney, and then as California Attorney General.
From that position, she went on in 2016 to become a senator from California in the US Congress, and then in 2020 to become Vice President of the United States, when Joe Biden became president.
